Communication Technology
The Communication Technology program at Aldershot highlights the importance of developing technical media production skills, creative thinking, and media literacy in today’s internet-driven world. The Grade 10 program serves as the essential foundation for the advanced Grade 11 and 12 courses. Students enjoy ample creative freedom as they explore units ranging from graphic design and video editing to web design, all while honing their ability to collaborate on dynamic, multi-faceted projects.
In Grades 11 and 12, students have the opportunity to specialize in one of four self-directed Communication Technology streams:
General Communication Technology (TGJ3M & TGJ4M): Offers students flexibility to choose projects using the Adobe software suite
Video Communication Technology (TGV3M & TGV4M): Focuses on video production using the Adobe software suite, including opportunities to produce the school announcements
Audio Communication Technology (TGR3M & TGR4M): Focuses on audio production projects using the Adobe software suite, including opportunities to produce the school announcements
Graphics Communication Technology (TGG3M & TGG4M): Focuses on print media, photography, and graphic design using the Adobe software suite, including assisting with the production of the yearbook
These courses are designed to nurture students’ individual curiosity, creative expression, and technical abilities. Participants will also develop transferable skills that enhance any future career path they choose to explore. Furthermore, all M-level courses are recognized for all post-secondary pathways, providing students with valuable flexibility in their educational and professional journeys.
