What is the Motive Power & Engineering SHSM

The Motive Power & Engienering SHSM aligns students with a strong broad base foundation in either the engineering, business, service, repair and modification of vehicles.  Students in the MPE SHSM are working towards an OSSD with an extra focus on their chosen post-secondary career pathway within the Motive Power sector. Highlighted areas within the Motive Power service sector would include Truck and Coach, and Heavy Equipment.

MPE allows students interested in a career in the Automotive Industry and/or Engineering to focus their students on:

• Servicing & Repair

• Engineering

• Design Technology 

• Business

These areas are in high need in order to replenish the ageing workforce.  Students in MPE could go directly to work, seek an apprenticeship or apply to a college program.  MPE is beneficial to students considering university programs in field such as Engineering or a Bachelor of Technology.

MPE exposes students to a variety of hands-on experiences, design and engineering content.
