Tech Design

Tech Design                                                                                                      OPEN level

Grade 10 students will explore many different pathways and careers relating to the Design and Engineering fields.  While learning introductory theories, design concepts and software programs.  Students will work on projects including 3D modeling and printed CO2 cars, hands on design build challenges, introduction to engineering concepts, architectural design and industrial design.

Architectural Design & Mechanical Engineering                                                     College/Uni

Grade 11 students will be building on their earlier learning from grade 10.  This year we focus more on the mechanical engineering and design concepts, applications and output.  The second half of the semester is a focus on Architectural design concepts and how to apply the Ontario Building Code to their own designed home.  Projects include; House plans designed to Local Building Codes – 1350 sq. ft. 3D Design and 3D Printer Projects, Laser Cutting and Design, Puzzles and working with Gearings and Ratios.

Architectural Design & Industrial Design                                               College/Uni

Grade 12 students will be honing their skills focused on supporting their post secondary pathways, portfolio development needs and design based passions.  Half the semester will be set to further examine mechanical engineering practices using the 3D printer, laser cutter and other tooling needs.  The second half will be looking at sustainable/environmental design practices in Architecture.  Projects will include; House Plans to Local Building Codes – 4000 sq. ft. house, personal passion projects, 3D Design and Printer Projects and moving parts design.
