ELEMENTARY

Calling all readers!  Voting for Forest of Reading will be on Thursday April 26 in the library.  If you’ve read any of the Red Maple or White Pine books, stop by the library Thursday to cast your vote!!  

Tchoukball tryouts will continue today.  Be ready to play in the big gym today at 12:30.  The Tchoukball tournament is only for grade 8 students.

Attention all ACE members there is a VERY important special meeting today at first break for all grade 8 members.  Again that is ALL grade 8 ACE members need to come to a very important meeting at first break. PLease meet in Mrs Krug ‘s room at 9:50 and bring your snack. Thanks

Attention Inside Ride participants- there are only two more days to fundraise, all money and forms MUST be turned in to your team captain on Thursday.  Good Luck and keep up the good work!

A reminder that the Talent Show is this Thursday. The Student Leadership Team has some amazing acts in store for you. The cost of admission is $1.00 and all the proceeds will go to the breakfast program. Please give your loonie to your homeroom teacher before Thursday at first break.

Rehearsals for the talent show continue today. All members of the stage and tech crew need to attend.  Acts 1-7 need to report to the auditorium by 10:00 this morning. Acts 8-15, please report to the auditorium by 12:00.

Congratulations to the first ever Aldershot Floor Hockey team who competed yesterday in a tournament at Mainway Sports.  The Lions made it through to the semi finals and all team members played amazing-scoring so many goals it was crazy! Special mention to our outstanding goalie Alexander Rebane , thanks to all for a great day!

Grade 10 debates will be happening in the library during P.1 (8:10-9:24am) for part of next week starting tomorrow.  To create an environment conducive to these debates, we will be closing the library P.1 to "walk-ins." Sorry for the inconvenience, but thanks for supporting program here at Aldershot!

SECONDARY

Attention ALL Aldershot students interested in travel: We have a Parent/Student Info-Night scheduled for TODAY at 6:30pm in our school library. Please attend if you are interested in the Spain & Portugal tour OR the France Tour. Both trips are next March Break and both trips are now open to all grade 9 - 12 students.

The number is 10….Aldershot we have just hit 30 teams for the Inside Ride….that means we are just 10 away from our total from last year.  Get your team of 6, Register at www.aldershottheinsideride.com and get your fundraising done for this awesome event.  There are only 3 days left to get your team registered.

LIONS LEADERSHIP applications are due this week.  Do you want to take an active role in organizing school events at Aldershot?  Are you looking to improve your leaderships skills and strengthen your student voice? Please consider running for one of the following positions: Prime Minister, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Communications, Minister of Sport & Recreation, Minister of Social Justice or Minister of Arts & iSTEM.  See Mrs. Robertson with any questions.

There will be a bake sale on Wednesday and Thursday this week during period 3 in the foyer! All the money raised will support the Inside Ride, so bring your loonies to toonies and get a sweet treat!

Established in Canada in 1998, National Poetry Month brings together schools, booksellers, libraries, and poets from across the country to celebrate poetry and its vital place in Canada’s culture.  Visit the library this month to sign out a book of poems or to create your own blackout poem!

Reminder to all Inside Ride Captains to make sure your members are registered and have started fundraising!  

Attention to all March madness teams- today at first break will be for Grade 7’s and today at second break for Grade 8’s - see you there!

All hockey team members need to see Mrs Krug or Mr Wilson for a permission form today.  Thanks

Hello tennis team, this morning practise has been moved to Thursday. We do not have access to the courts on Friday. Please show up at 7am. Also in order to participate you need to get the forms from Ms. Greenslade in room 211.

Boys Baseball will have a practice today after school in the gym.

Inside Ride Inside Ride Inside Ride….LIONS we are half way there….we have 20 teams registered and we are shooting for 40...I know that many of you have started the process but not registered online...let’s push for 30 by Friday….ask your friends, ask your teachers...who’s in?

LIONS LEADERSHIP...are you creative? Do you like to be involved in Aldershot spirit events? Would you like to help organize events like the Terry Fox run, semi formal, Inside Ride and spirit weeks?  LIONS LEADERSHIP needs YOU! We are changing things up for next year and running school elections. There is a poster with the roles that are up for election posted on the bulletin board outside the office and down by the gym.  What do you want next year to look like at ALDERSHOT? Application forms are available in the main office, guidance office and on the gym doors.

Girls Softball will be holding its next practice on Monday, April 23rd.  Girls, you must bring in your signed medical forms before you are allowed to participate.  Weather permitting, our practice will be outside, so please dress appropriately.
