ELEMENTARY ANNOUNCEMENTS:

This announcement is for grade eight students: Did you know that 14 thousand Canadian soldiers participated in the Allied D-Day invasion of Normandy against the Nazis in June 1944?  Many of these young men were the same age as our grade 12 students at Aldershot. Previous students who have visited France with the school have found their visit to Juno beach to be a moving experience.  Don’t miss out on this amazing experience! Join the Aldershot trip to France in March 2019. If you register before June 21, you will receive a discount of $435. If you have any questions, see Mr. Stuart in room 239.

There will be a girls soccer tryout today at lunch. Please bring your lunch and meet on the field at 12:10.  



You may have noticed an addition to our flag pole this morning. The International Day Against Homophobia, Transphobia and Biphobia is TODAY May 17th and aims to coordinate international events that raise awareness of LGBTQ rights violations and  create an interest in LGBT rights worldwide. Aldershot is pleased to by flying the Pride flag in solidarity and support of the  LBGTQ community here in Burlington and across the world.

Congratulations and thank-you to everyone for their amazing participation yesterday at Track & Field Day!  Results will be posted shortly and Mrs Krug will be finding all Picnic Event winners at break. We have some freezies leftover and they will on sale today at first break in the hallway- $1.00 get them while they last !!

There will be no Junior Band rehearsal today at 2nd break.  Stay tuned to find out when we will get together to try out some new music and to celebrate our year together.

Just a reminder to all writers that all entries for the library’s “Thank You for the Music” Writing Contest are due next Tuesday!  You have an entire long weekend to write your best essay or short story! Come to the library for more information on the contest!

Attention all Relay Team members, please come to our practice today at first break, meet on the track and bring your snack along.  

Yum Yum just what you’ve been waiting for a delicious cold freezie!  That’s right folks freezies will be on sale today at first break in the upstairs hallway for a loonie !!! Picnic event winners can pick up their freezie prize at the table- winners are as follows:

There will be a soccer practice today at second break. Please be on the field for 12:30. Eat first then come out!

Did you know that Muslims around the world observe Ramadan, a month of fasting and religious reflection that takes place every year? Ramada 2018 started yesterday, Thursday, May 17th. During the next month, people observing Ramadan Will not eat or drink between sunrise and sunset. Students wishing to observe Ramadan by fasting on Fridays, are invited to come to Mme LeLievre’s room at 12:10 pm.  Please do not bring any food or drinks with you. For more information, please see Mme LeLievre or Karen in class 8-1.
