Dear Aldershot Community,
The PARC Committee representing Aldershot HS will be hosting a public meeting on Monday, February 13, 2017 at 7:00 pm in the Aldershot Library (or Auditorium if numbers require it). The purpose of this meeting is to present to the community what we believe to be the most current understanding of where the PAR is moving towards based on the personal opinions of the committee members who have attended three committee meetings by the time of this Public meeting.
We believe this will provide the timing and knowledge for the Aldershot community to voice their opinions, thoughts and suggestions to the PARC prior to the Feb 28th and March 07 public meetings hosted by HDSB and prior to the final PARC committee meeting.
As you may be aware, Halton District School Board has initiated a Program and Accommodation Review (PAR) of Burlington high schools. The PAR has been initiated with initial recommendations of:
· Closing Burlington Central High School
· Closing Lester B. Pearson High School
· Altering a number of school boundaries
As part of the Ministry of Education defined procedure for this PAR, a PAR Committee (PARC) has been formed to review public feedback and consider additional or variant options to the initial recommendation from the Board. The PARC includes Aldershot principal Maria McLellan as well as Steve Cussons & Eric Szyiko, the 2 parent representatives from Aldershot.
It is important for all to understand that Aldershot HAS A VOICE. The final recommendation that the PARC will put forth for consideration is very likely to be different than their original recommendation. It will, or should, be inclusive of feedback and information supplied by Burlington residents; and this will affect us all.
With this in mind it becomes critical that Aldershot area residents have their views included in the process.
· If Aldershot remains open but has its boundaries expanded to include more students what is the effect on the school as a whole?
· What if the final recommendation put forth includes closing Aldershot High School? How would this affect your child or children?
· What affect would this have upon the Elementary students and process?
Your views and ideas are important in this very delicate matter and you are encouraged to voice them. If you are unable to attend the Aldershot Community public meeting, please see below other ways for you to connect.
Feedback in the way of questions, concerns, ideas, clarification may be documented and sent via email to email@example.com. Your PARC representatives will ensure your feedback is considered throughout the entire PAR process.
Our Facebook page is also coming on line and will be a great way to stay engaged through this process with relative links to information and resources. Visit us @ www.facebook.com/AldershotPARC .
